Cedar Lane Design

Whether you are building in historic Lower Town, at the lake, in the mountains, or on your family farm, cabin or cottage or estate, your plans will be fashioned from your ideas and priorities in a functional, energy efficient structure.

It may include: basement, foundation & floor plans, elevations, sections, roof framing, timber frames, structural insulating panels (SIPS), & details.

This simple floor plan is my idea of the essence of HOME in a 1000 square foot package. All the living spaces can be easily enlarged or repurposed, Porches should cover exterior doors, and a garage or porte cochere may be added.

These three front elevations illustrate just how we can adapt the floor plan to most any exterior materials and styles..

DESIGN PROCESS

A

An initial APPOINTMENT is essential to visit the lot or land to ensure that the placement works with views, drainage driveway access, trees, etc. I’ll have about a dozen questions and we will discuss your priorities and view your shoebox full of ideas.

B

I’ll BUILD your home or renovation on paper using CAD technology for precision and online sharing.

C

We will COMMUNICATE as needed for revisions and refinements to the drawings. You’ll begin to walk through the plans and recognize necessary detailing. Your plans can reviewed in .PDF form or as a classic paper set.

DESIGN SPECIALTY

Structural Insulating Panels & Timber Frames

I designed and supervised construction on several similar projects, beginning in 2007. The SIP walls and ceiling/roof panels are extremely energy efficient and strong, and any interior or exterior finish is possible.

3-D Images

I can generate 3-D images of any structure. They are proportionately and dimensionally correct and are useful for a complex roof design or to visualize real perspective that elevations don’t demonstrate.
